Which Jane Austen Character are You? (For Females) Long Quiz!!! created with QuizFarm.com |
| You scored as Elinor Dashwood As Marianne's older sister, Elinor lives at the other end of the emotional spectrum. She rarely reveals her intense feelings and is more concerned with being honest and loyal than having what she deserves. Even though her intentions are pure, she sets herself up for loss by constantly placing other people before her own needs. Overall, Elinor is gentle and rational but is just as capable of radical emotions (despite her withholding them) as her sister.

Writing my outline for my Bernini paper is very difficult, not because there isn't a ton of amazingness to be said about Bernini but because I have to keep stopping to drool over the pictures for long periods of time. Dude. Bernini, why did you have to live 400 years ago and not now so I could marry you?

I am vaguely irritated so you get to hear about it. Dana was supposed to move in with me on friday and thus alleviated my roommate woes. Now she is not moving in so i have two weeks to find a suitable roommate or i will be fined over 1000 dollars. Yes, this is crap.

So el-jay, I shall post to you because a.) I am procrastinating a teensy bit and 2.) i haven't updated since about christmas time.
First off, I just had a massage from the dance company for their fundraiser and it owned big time. When I am rich and famous I will totally have massages all the time. So this is me waxing poetic about how awesome it is that the Hollins dancers give massages.
In general this semester is going to be a confusing mix of terrifying and awesome. For example, while i just got to read a kickass essay about how shitty it was to be a Florentine woman during the Renaissance for my portraiture class, I am terrified about leading discussion next week and then writing super-long scary research paper and doing super-long scary presentation later this semester. Very conflicted. Similar feelings on Victorian lit, ancient novels and being Habitat President. Because while cavorting around with a toilet on the professor's lawns is awesome, if i screw up Habitat... man.
At some point will be getting a new roommate. Also, this weekend I get to see Jane Alexander! If you don't know who that is, she was in the Ring. She's been nomintated for four oscars. I'm mucho excited.
And then i'm going to a rodeo.

Today is my last day of classes for the semester, and then tonight is the ever fabulous History Department Party. It'll be a blast, i'm sure. I'm very frazzled by my number theory work but once that's done things will perk up a bit. I have a lot of ancient art reading to catch up on and lots of studying for that in general, but nothing much new there.

( HEY IB KIDS )
Tonight ring night ended with about four hours of skits. There was the best freakin' Anchorman skit EVER (best line: "a whole wheel of cheese? I can't even be mad at you, I'm just impressed"), NEFA nipples, Paris Hilton smackdown, much dancing, singing, screeching, timewarping, and overall drunkenness. Hollins pretty much owns everything. I can't wait till i'm a junior and then i'll be some peoples bitch for three days and get lots of goodies for my efforts. And the crazy. Oh, the crazy. Anyway, here's a video of my friend Jes being a soap opera as one of her demands.

Now i'm going to rant about my next semester classes, because they are exciting and i like them. And they're pretty much going to be all i have next semester since dear, dear Summer and Jes are going to be living it up in London and Argentina, respectively.
Portraiture will be a triumph of art historical awesomeness. I like professor Nolan, and I LOVE LOVE LOVE Renaissance and Baroque, which are the emphasis of the class. So expect more posts in which i coo over some artwork. Weight training will make me into the ah-nold of short girls, yes. Victorian Literature: Dr. Markert + Brontes + Megan Stolz = teh awesome. But 385 level + Dickens = scary. Computer Science: Professor Healy likes knitting and chocolate. New best friend? Ancient Novels: yeah, this is a classics course I'm taking to get my ancient. It's a special topic and looks super interesting so hopefully it'll live up to that. I don't have much experience with the classics department but Megan Apple likes them a lot and she has good judgement. Plus their recycling bin is a picture of the Dionysus vase which is kickass. (Yes, yes i am an art history nerd. What about it?)
So yeah. That's my next semester. That and the QR center, Batten Leadership Institute (at least Batten Boot Camp is supposedly over... supposedly), being president of Habitat for Humanity, and hopefully babysitting. Then, glorious summer which with all luck i shall spend in the Toledo Museum of Art.
